what do you think about the multimedia btw? the description is kinda vague and never seen on in action like the features and how it works. Worth the price? or better to just keep my phone on a stem mount?

It is fairly limited in it's use, due in part to the poorly developed "Ducati Link" app, which has stagnated in terms of development, since Ducati seem to be pouring all their efforts into refining the "Ducati Connect" app which is geared towards the much more sophisticated software within the Mutristrada V2/V4 dash/Canbus. At present all you can do with the Link app is pair the DMS module with your phone, to allow you to make/receive calls via the LH switchgear and listen to music tracks (stop, pause, play & next track only functions) and adjust the volume. The link app has the habit of crashing if you use it simultaneously to stream data from the bike or record your journey, whilst using the system to stream voice or music. You'll find more information on it in the owner's manual. Another drawback, at least with my module, is it is displaying my bike in the app as a Multistrada 1260S when the bike is a Panigale V4S. This could be because the DMS was previously fitted to a MS, when the dealer first activated it and I then fitted it to my own bike, so it has that bike's VIN stored in the bluetooth module. There is no way to change the stored VIN with the OBDStar unit, so that wil have to be done at the main dealer. Finally the app does not list the Panigale V4 as a supported model, despite literature elesewhere saying it is compatible with both app and DMS module, so hopefully the next software release will address this. The latest version of the app only states that they have added compatibilty with the Streetfighter V2 and V4. TBH you will have more functionality using your phone and the voice commands on your Cardo/Sena headset. Hope this helps. The OBDStar unit is worth buying if only to clear service lights and codes and for general fault finding, if you plan on doing your own maintenance. Note it will NOT load EVO2 or a full system Akra maps, as these are VIN specific and can only be loaded via Ducati's dealer network. Equally it cannot update the ECU software, for the same reason. Again only the dealer can effect these changes.

What are the benefits of it? I have a 22 v4 with the full system Akra being install next week
You aren't married to the dealer to get work done, that's the benefit. But, if you're paying to get an Akra installed its likely not something you care about.

Exactly what he said… If you do your own maintenance and want to turn off check engine, or service lamps etc. You can also do some simple functions like reprogramming shifter, test circuits, reset some parameters. I’ve used it on both the V4 and the Xdiavel. The V4 has far more functions, understandably, as it is a far more complex bike. Overall it will save you 50% of trips to the dealer for some simple stuff.

Managed to get hold of an OBDStar iScan Ducati unit. A litle less than impressed with the fact that only the top of the range MS80 unit comes with a proper protective case, instead of the cardboard box mine came in, so after some research online, found a perfect alternative. Cost me £38 which is not bad really and a much better solution to protect the OBDStar unit and cables. Having measured the dimensions of the two layer foam packaging first, and checked the internal dimensions of the new case online, I didn't even have to trim the foam down as the whole thing fitted straight into the case. There is a small gap around the edges but it's still a pretty snug fit. Here is the link to the case, for anyone else who has the iScan and wants to ditch the cardboard box.

1st of all i want to congratulate everyone that post in this site. Everything that i read was so helpful to understand some things.
After this said , and taking consideration that i am not a tuner or and technician i would like someone to simplify some things for me.
1. I have a V4 2020 and i bought a used full Akrapovic exhuast system but without the Up Map from Ducati. I want to know if its possibly to go to a dealer and install the Ducati Up Map for full Akrapovic exhaust.
2. Is is possible to custom flash my ecu or i have to stick to official akrapovic map or a map from brentuning, SLR etc.
3. My bike will be used as a track bike so the DTC EVO 2 i think its crucial for me especially for the refine on the DQS (after last track test i think DQS is very slow and oriented to road use.). So i want to know if there is any other way to install EVO 2 besides going to a dealer.
4. Does the upgrade to EVO 2 (official or not ) will affect my ECU map ??

1. It really depends on your dealer. With mine, they wanted me to trailer the bike in, have no license plates on it, lights and turn signals taped or removed etc. Basically in track configuration. They have to register it to your VIN, but there aren't any serial numbers I can find on the exhaust or the box. All that to say you really have to check with them.

2. Absolutely. I went with Deussen Engines. They use the DimSport tool which is what Bren and SLR use. Daniel the owner is very knowledgeable and has a lot of experience. Plus, I actually spoke with him on the phone. He's also active on the Panigale forums and is easy to get in contact with.

3. The $800 add on DTC EVO2 as of now has to be flashed by the dealer. Deussen Engines is working on being able to flash the BBS, which is Ducati's black box system, also called a PCM or powertrain control module in OBD-II speak. So to directly answer your question, not yet.

4. They are separate but I would always flash the stock map onto the bike before taking it to the dealer. If they update something the flasher might not recognize the bike and could end up paying to unlock the software. Daniel did stress this to me during our call.

My experience with the DQS is that it really works best at high RPM. IIRC, the bike uses different cut times depending on where you are shifting and the lower RPM shifts are just clunky, especially 1 to 2. I've tried going to a Cordona strain gauge type, which when you shift up high works amazingly well but only really in GP shift. I wouldn't run it in standard shift.

Hello Kneedrager,
I want to add that for the first question, when you purchase an Akrapovic exhaust, the Ducati dealer that sell that Akrapovic exhaust need to register your exhaust serial number into the database at Ducati factory and married to your VIN number. Even if you buy from a non Ducati dealer such as WRS.it (where I bought mine from), the Ducati dealer that sell the exhaust to WRS.it is the dealer that register your exhaust to your VIN (not WRS) because only Ducati dealer can register to Ducati factory server through their diagnostic system online.
So, since you buy it used, there are 2 possibilities. If the original owner never ask the Ducati dealer to register that exhaust then you can just register it to your VIN. (You will need to know the serial number on the original box of the exhaust).
But if the original owner already register that exhaust to his VIN number, then you cannot get the Ducati official map anymore... unless somehow, you can persuade Ducati to remove the previous registration (I am sure this is doable, but will Ducati do it for you is another question that I believe most likely no). But if you can remove the previous registration (divorce it from the previous VIN), then of course you can married this used exhaust serial number to your bike VIN.

So, for you the simplest/easiest way is to just get an after market map from SLR/Brentuning/Rexxer etc.

From what I remember the DTC EVO 2 will overwrite some part of your ECU map,

Also, there is a sequence that your Ducati dealer need to follow and I copy and paste the old email I sent to my Ducati dealer (because I just want to make sure :ROFLMAO:):
And here are the steps:

  1. FIRST step is to Upload the Akrapovic ECU UpMap (FIRST).
Also please note that there are 2 different Akrapovic UpMaps.

The lower performance Slip-On Akrapovic and the Higher Performance Full System Akrapovic, so please kindly make sure your mechanic upload the correct Higher Performance FULL SYSTEM Akrapovic Up-Map.

  1. Only AFTER the Full System Akrapovic UpMap had been uploaded to the ECU, then your mechanic can upload the DTC EVO2 software as the SECOND step.
The reason is because there are 2 different versions of DTC EVO2.

First version (code# 58) of DTC EVO2 is to be used with stock exhaust/stock ECU map

While Second version of DTC EVO2 (code# 67) is to be used with the Akrapovic exhaust/Up-Map.

If your mechanic uploaded the DTC EVO2 before uploading the Akrapovic ECU UpMap, then the DTC EVO2 uploaded will be the lower performance (Code#58) for the stock exhaust because your DDS will not detect the presence of the Akrapovic UpMap in the ECU.

That is why the Akrapovic UpMap need to be uploaded first to make sure your DDS detect and then upload the higher performance DTC EVO2 (Code#67) for Akrapovic UpMap.

I found the table below from Ducati Service Repair Bulletin SRV-SRB-19-032 related to DTC EVO2 which summarized it quite well:

Last night i contact SLR because i saw at their site that the handheld flasher is making changes to quickshifter and blipper.
i post the link below
He confirmed to me to that yes the slr makes shiflting up-down better without making any changes to BBS. He says that the shifting maps are in the ECU.
That was very strange after all i have read in this forum. Can anyone give us some info about that??

I'm trying not to step too far out of my lane, but I heard from a very good source that Termi, SLR, Bren etc will sometimes base their tune on different versions of the Ducati Akrapovic map. The DQS changes come from these various versions of the factory/Ducati Performance maps and isn't something the tuners are changing themselves.

Ask them if they can do custom values.

Last I heard, not even Woolich can do custom DQS values.

I agree - Daniel seems solid. 👍

Superbike Unlimited told me they are considering development of a lower-priced MoTec option that uses the factory harness rather than custom, eliminating the need for several aftermarket sensors, and likely costing $10k less than their currently available system. If that becomes available, I’m planning to try it; if not, I’m planning to go with Daniel’s full kit.
