Riding Gear

What sort of protection are people wearing when they ride?
Understandably different brands fit better than others so it’s not a one size fits all solution but it helps having a place to discuss if anyone needs some advices.

Some general questions for example:
How much does styling/practicality influence your decisions if commuting or street riding?
What’s the verdict on airbag systems for street and track?
Feedback on bluetooth & intercom units?

My normal setup can be seen in the forum header lol
AGV Pista GPR
Ear plugs (must have with this helmet)
Alpinestar EXO suit
Astars gloves
Dainese short boot

Ogio bag

Lately I've been researching Airbags and I will definitely get one soon. I think I will go with Dainese because you can use it as a stand alone with any jacket. I like the idea of added protection just in case. The technology has advanced enough to make them pretty affordable. I don't ride with bluetooth or coms great excuse to avoid calls lol. I think most of the gear from the top manufactures look good so that comes down to preference.

I’ve been doing a bit of research into the airbags, it seems that A-stars product is transferable between their compatible jackets whereas Dainese D/air is tailored to the jacket it’s sold with. I think it would be ideal to get a jacket that has all the components located in the hump where there is additional padding against the hard canister although most street jackets do not offer this feature.

For me at least Dainese was a better fit, and I may as well stick with the Italian theme 😛

Im looking at their smart jacket/vest which you can use with any jacket inside or out.

Check out the Klim airbag vest. I like theirs because it goes under everything and has good neck/collar bone protection. The dainese and astars are weak in that area

My riding gear for more than 20 years since high school in late 80's until 2012 when I sold it.. I should keep it...

Styling was and still my priority 😁

Current riding gear (I used them for a few days at riding school to get my safety riding certificate so I can get motorcycle license to buy my bike),
and I did a lot of research on the protection features of the jacket, and I choose it because I can add back protector and chest protector (which I did), plus I like the styling too
I mean if you spent good money on a safety product, might as well find one that also looks good too.
oh, and I think being a synthetic non leather product make it a bit less hot to use while still warm enough and less care needed... and it was also on sale 😅

and the rest of the riding gears:

@Lucati very nice. I’m in the market for some Axial d1 as well. Unfortunately I’m not close enough to anywhere that stocks Dainese to try a pair on - how do you find the fit Vs what size charts say or compared to A* (if you have worn them before)?

i would say to get your same size. I’ve been the same from the alpinestars boots I’ve had, sidi, and i got the dainese’s in the same, all size 11US or 44euro.

oooo nice! I forget where I read it but dainese mentioned they do not put Ti in some areas because it’s not as good for sliding in an event of a crash or something like that, i have to find the article.
