cross contamination

hi guys,

changing out the two cyclinder head gaskets, when i cracked them open i found milky residue on both cylinder heads, the rear a lot more than the front. i am fearing the worst but hoping for the best! i fear cross contamination has anyone come across this? i am just about to drop the heat exchange unit and check the port gasket and i am dropping the oil also, if not that it looks like the head gasket. the bike has only been doing short runs during winter and i read that this can cause this also.
open to opinions on this.

Engine milkshake is only one thing, water (coolant) mixing with oil. What does the block and pistons look like with the heads off?

When you drain the oil & remove the pan you should be able to tell if there has been coolant and oil mixing. After it sits the coolant typically goes to the bottom so when you first pull the plug watch out for coolant. Let me know if you have any other questions
